SHREVEPORT, LA-  Shreveport Police arrest felon with a firearm

The Shreveport Police Department arrested 43-year-old Kenyoun Gilyard, following a traffic stop conducted on March 30, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Guillard was operating a vehicle at Financial Plaza and Pines Road when officers initiated contact.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered that Gilyard was armed with a firearm. Subsequent investigation revealed that he was a convicted felon and was prohibited from possessing a firearm. Consequently, Gilyard has been charged with one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

This arrest underscores the commitment of the Shreveport Police Department to ensure the safety and security of our community. We encourage citizens to report any suspicious or unlawful activities to law enforcement authorities promptly.

Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
