Shreveport Man Arrested/Teen Wanted in Shooting of 13-Year-Old

An arrest has been made in connection with the January 24 shooting that left a 13-year-old girl with life-threatening injuries. A second suspect remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

At 5:30 AM on January 24, 2025, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a shooting in the 2300 block of Meriwether Road. Officers located a 13-year-old girl in a church parking lot, suffering from a severe gunshot wound. Shreveport Fire Department transported her to Ochsner LSU Health with critical injuries.

Through their investigation, detectives determined that 19-year-old Montigo Hinton pointed a purple handgun at two juvenile females, ordering them to flee a residence. When they hesitated, 15-year-old Lejayden Bell allegedly fired multiple shots toward the juveniles, striking the 13-year-old victim. She collapsed in the parking lot while the second juvenile ran for help.

On February 4, 2025, members of the Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Apprehension Team (VCAT) and the SPD Warrants Unit took Montigo Hinton into custody at 2322 Meriwether Road. He has been charged with the following offenses:

· Contributing to the delinquency of a minor (multiple counts)

· Aggravated assault with a firearm

· Indecent behavior with a juvenile

Lejayden Bell remains wanted for:

· Two counts of attempted second-degree murder

· One count of juvenile in possession of a firearm

Bell is considered armed and dangerous, and his photograph is being released due to the significant threat he poses to public safety.
