Shreveport Fire Department Respond to Several Structure Fires
A busy day for Shreveport Firefighters on Tuesday (1/16/24). In reverse order, SFD responded to a reported 2-story house fire in the 1100 block of College St. at just before 1300. Engine 7 was first in and reported smoke and flames visible, asked for a supply line and went in on fire attack.
Additional companies arrived and fought the fire for over two hours. While the fire was under control fairly quickly, putting out spot fires and overhaul lasted through shift change and into the evening. The house was home to three generations and appeared to be a total loss.
No human injuries were reported. One dog was rescued and treated by SFD crews. The cause of the fire is under investigation. EARLIER (just before 0800), SFD and Signal 51 responded to a fire in Shreveport’s Cherokee Park neighborhood on Brookbriar.
A working 2-story house fire was confirmed by Engine 1, a supply line was requested and the fire was quickly brought under control.
BEFORE THAT (just after 0300), Engine 8 and other SFD crews responded to a fully-involved house fire on Alabama at Greenwood Road. The house was vacant and no injuries were reported, That fire is under investigation.
