Shreveport Man Arrested for Stealing Fuel from Construction Site
Back in September, Shreveport Police received a complaint that a man was seen stealing fuel from a construction site on Knight Street.
Responding Officers were told by an employee of the construction company working on the soccer fields at the YMCA that a man had been seen stealing diesel fuel from the job site. The company had experienced multiple thefts and had cameras installed by the site to try and get the thief's identity.
Jason Rudolph was spotted in the act of stealing the fuel by employees of the construction company, and when they tried to confront him, he tried to get away in his car. Rudolph hit two of the construction employee's cars trying to escape, and the employees were able to detain him until SPD got to the scene.
SPD looked through the footage and were able to identify Jason Rudolph in the act of stealing the fuel.
An investigation determined that Rudolph had cut the lock from the fueling system and found cutting tools and other evidence linking him to the theft. A criminal history check revealed Rudolph to be a habitual offender with prior convictions related to firearms, possession of stolen property, forgery, access device fraud, and other offenses.
Rudolph was arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the following charges:
· Two counts of Aggravated Property Damage
· Theft of Fuel
The Shreveport Police Department commends the quick actions of the employees who helped stop this repeat offender from continuing to victimize local businesses.
