Detectives from the Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit quickly identified the victim's son, 33-year-old Jacoby Page, as the prime suspect. Page fled the scene but was later located and detained by the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office in Mississippi. Shreveport detectives obtained a warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in connection with his flight. On July 14, detectives interviewed Page and gathered sufficient evidence to charge him with one count of Second Degree Murder.
