Shreveport residents might need a reminder about school zone speed cameras. They will be up and going next week when school starts on Wednesday August 13 in Caddo Parish.

There are speed zone cameras in 32 school zones in the city of Shreveport.

This will be the 3rd school year since the city implemented this program at the end of the Adrian Perkins administration. The city teamed with Blue Line Solutions to install speed zone cameras in several school zones. Blue Line mails out tickets to drivers caught going more than 10 MPH over the posted limit when the school zone lights are on.

What School Zone Has the Most Violators?

The top 5 school zones for speeders are:

Caddo Heights Math/Science
Creswell ES
CE Byrd HS
Judson ES
Westwood ES

This data surprises me. From hearing so many complaints, I would have thought Captain Shreve or AC Steere would have the highest number of tickets. But that is not the case.

What Does Blue Line Solutions Pledge to Do?

The company says the goal of this speed enforcement program is to change behavior and save lives. Information on the Blue Line Solution website says:

While other automated speed enforcement companies focus on writing tickets and making money, we’re about changing behavior and saving lives – by decreasing the number of speeding vehicles in school zones.

KEEL News has done some research and found out how many tickets have been issued in each school district where the cameras are in place. The numbers might surprise you too. Check it out.
