SHREVEPORT, LA-   Shreveport Police Seek Woman Wanted in Recent Shooting Incident

The Shreveport Police Department was seeking 31-year-old Gerrica Stewart, who was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on the evening of August 30th. At approximately 8:30 PM, Shreveport Police Patrol officers were notified of a shooting at a local hospital. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the actual crime scene was at the intersection of Buncombe Road and West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.

The investigation revealed that the victim had been involved in an argument with the suspect, Gerrica Stewart. During the altercation, Stewart allegedly struck the victim with a handgun, leading to a physical confrontation. The suspect then used the same handgun to shoot the victim.

After the shooting, the victim was transported by a private vehicle to her residence, where she subsequently called 911. She was then taken to the hospital for treatment.

Gerrica Stewart was wanted for one count of Aggravated Second Degree Battery.

UPDATE:  Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Detectives received a Crime Stoppers tip indicating that Gerrica Stewart was hiding in a hotel room in Bossier City. Detectives immediately coordinated with the Bossier City Police Department, who promptly joined the operation.

Upon arriving at the hotel, a male individual answered the door and, while cooperating, gestured towards the room, allowing officers to search for Gerrica. During the search, she was quickly discovered hiding between the mattress and box spring, identifiable by a noticeable lump.

Gerrica was apprehended without incident. Additionally, the male was found to have an outstanding probation violation warrant and was also taken into custody by Bossier PD. Both individuals were subsequently booked into the Bossier City Jail.
