Shreveport Police Arrest Man for Shooting Inside an AirB&B

On Friday, Shreveport Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of shots fired on Creswell Avenue.

Officers made contact with the callers, who reported that the AirB&B they were staying in had been struck by bullets being fired from a nearby unit. Simultaneously, the shooter called 911, stating he believed someone had entered the residence and admitted to firing multiple shots into a closet.

Officers with SPD evacuated the occupants of the AirB&B to a safe location and secured the scene. Attempts were made to contact the individual inside the unit the shots came from. Due to the nature of the incident, Violent Crimes investigators and the Special Response Team were notified.

Through the course of the investigation, Christopher Barter was identified as the man inside who fired the weapon. Officers maintained  phone communication with Barter, who initially refused to exit the residence. After continued negotiations, Barter ultimately exited the AirB&B and was arrested without further incident.

No injuries were reported. During the protective sweep, SPD Officers found a  pistol on the bed. Additionally, a plastic bag containing suspected meth was located on the bedroom floor.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence as part of the ongoing investigation.

Christopher Barter was arrested and charged with:

· Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property

· Possession of Schedule II Narcotics (Methamphetamine)

· Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

· Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance

This incident remains under investigation.
