Shreveport Teen Arrested at School With a Gun

A School Resource Officer at Captain Shreve High School got a disturbing tip from a staff member on Thursday.

An assistant principal at the school got a tip from a student saying that someone on campus had a gun. The staff member took that information and immediately told Deputy Rivera, the SRO with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Rivera acted fast to find the 15 year-old student and detained them. While searching the student, Deputy Rivera did in-fact find a handgun in the child's possession.

The teen was taken to the CPSO Detectives' Office. A guardian was present while the teen was interviewed and read their Miranda Rights, and the student was taken to the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center.

The teen is being charged with, illegal possession of a firearm in a gun-free zone and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.
