Here Are the Start Dates for Shreveport Area Schools
Youngsters are enjoying time off from school from the summer, but before you know it, the school bell will be ringing again.
Some families are just now planning a summer getaway to enjoy the time off, but others are beginning to plan for a return to the classroom. We are about 6 weeks away from another school year. Most local school systems will be following a very similar schedule this year.
Most school systems now begin classes in early August.
Summer for students and teachers in Louisiana is now only a little longer than 2 months.

Many school systems around the state begin school during the first week of August this year.
It seems every year school begins earlier and earlier. Part of the problem has to do with standardized testing that has to be done each spring. School systems have to develop a schedule to make sure that is accounted for. Most school districts have also implemented a fall break into the calendar.
Last year, school started on August 13 in Shreveport, but that date is pushed up a few days this year. Classes in Caddo will kick off on August 10.
The earliest start in the area is in Bossier and DeSoto Parishes. Classes begin on August 6. Webster Parish students go back on August 7.

School systems will be using the summer to get schools fully staffed for the coming year and to make repairs and improvements to local campuses.
