Shreveport Regional Airport has finished repaving the second runway at the airport, meaning that now both runways are new and safe for planes to fly in and out of.

"Shreveport Regional Airport is the gateway to many visitors and businesses to Shreveport," said Bill Cooksey with the airport.  He said that it is important to create a good first impression for our visitors as well as improve safety for pilots and airlines at the airport.

Cooksey adds that with any community, the airport plays a critical role in growing an economy.

This project cost about $5 million and was paid by the FAA and DOTD's Aviation section.  It came in under budget.
