If You Thought That this Past Weekend Was Hot, Get Ready For More Heat.

This past weekend felt like a good ole Ark-La-Tex weekend, seriously it was too hot for me to consume anything but water. Turns out it's only going to get hotter and the forecast has me thinking I need to prepare for a whole lot of air conditioning time.

Why Is the Weather So Concerning?

The forecast is showing us some projected high temperatures that are almost 20 degrees above average. Our average weather this time of year is about 80 degrees. So a high temperature of the mid to upper 90s is concerning. Thursday's projected high is 96 degrees.

If we see some temperatures touch the mid-90s then we will definitely see some records be broken that have not been broken in 136 years. Back in May of 1886, we saw some temperatures reach up to 96 degrees.

So if Thursday's temperature does reach 96 degrees it will tie up the heat record set back in 1886. Yikes.

According to the National Weather Service, These are the Records Set Back in 1886.

Wednesday, May 11th:  95 in 1886

Thursday, May 12th:  96 in 1886

Friday, May 13th:  94 in 1886.

With record-shattering heat on the way, it's so important to hydrate. Drink as much water as you can and don't forget to wear sunscreen. Don't be shy with the sunscreen and water, slather it on and drink up.
