Shreveport Police Arrest Two Men for Reckless Shooting
Shreveport Police Patrol Officers were able to arrest two men after a terrifying shooting incident.
Lat week SPD got a call from a Highland neighborhood by multiple people talking about random gunfire throughout the neighborhood. Police showed up, and were able to find several shell casings in different locations on the street. SPD was also able to get a description of the car the men were driving.
While Police were still investigating, they heard more gunshots close by. A patrol unit was able to find the car matching the description and attempted to pull them over. The driver took off at high speed. SPD was able to get the car to stop after the driver had broken several traffic laws.
Police identified the driver as Varela Jose Manuel after he was arrested. Manuel was seemingly drunk when he was arrested. And the passenger was arrested and identified as Eduardo Delaluz after trying to fight the Police.
Police searched the car and found several guns. That and the evidence at the scene was enough to bring about charges on both men. Delaluz was arrested and charged with one count of Resisting an Officer and one count of Illegal Use of a Weapon. Manuel faces charges of Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Illegal Use of a Weapon, DWI (First Offense), and numerous traffic violations.
Chief Wayne Smith commended the Officers involved:
“These officers did a terrific job removing dangerous individuals from our streets. Violence and reckless behavior will not be tolerated in Shreveport.”
