Shreveport Man Arrested for Pulling a Gun on His Ex’s Boyfriend

Yesterday, the Shreveport Police responded to an assault and battery call in the area of Baird Road and Mansfield Road.

The caller reported aggravated assault where a man pulled a gun during a parking lot confrontation. While SPD was on the way to the call, officers were told that the victim and suspect were employees working around a nearby Walmart.

Officers showed up to Walmart and began looking for the suspect and victim. During the investigation, Officers were told that the suspect, described as a Black male, drove off in a white Crown Victoria. Officers later saw a Black male with a vehicle matching the description.

The man was identified as Donnell Gray. Officers contacted the victim, who stated he went on break at 2:50 a.m. and drove to the RaceWay on Mansfield Road to get cigarettes.

The victim reported that Gray initially acted as if he were entering the Raceway, then suddenly turned around and pointed a gun at him. According to the victim, Gray told him, “Get your bitch ass out of the car.” The victim told Police he was afraid he was about to be shot and fled the scene. He identified both the suspect and his vehicle without prompting.

During the investigation, Gray admitted that he knew the victim was with his ex-girlfriend and told Police that he was angry. When asked if he was armed, Gray told officers that he had dropped the firearm off at his house. However, when Officers searched his car they found a gun in the trunk, hidden under a tire inside a backpack.

Donnell Gray was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.
