Shreveport Police Department Special Victims Unit was assigned a case involving an alleged violation of a protective order.

The victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, Carl Smith Jr. violated a protection order earlier this month, while at a gas station on West 70th Street. During the incident, Smith reportedly engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim and attempted to escalate the situation into a physical confrontation.

Investigators with the Special Victims Unit got security camera footage from the gas station, which corroborated the victim’s account. The video showed Smith removing his shirt and attempting to fight the victim before leaving the scene in a car before SPD could show up.

Late last week, Smith was found and taken into custody. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on charges of Probation Violation and Domestic Abuse Battery with Child Endangerment. Later that day, an additional charge of Violation of a Protective Order was added.
