Shreveport Police Seek Man Who Wrote $34,923 Bad Check

SHREVEPORT, LA     Shreveport Police Department Property Crimes Detectives Seek Suspect in Vehicle Fraud Case

The Shreveport Police Department is actively searching for a man wanted in connection with a vehicle theft and fraudulent check case. On November 8, 2024, SPD was alerted to a stolen vehicle incident reported by Yokem Toyota, located at 1199 East Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. The suspect, Phillip Pryor, allegedly purchased a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee by writing a check that later bounced due to insufficient funds.

Pryor reportedly issued a check for $34,923.81, indicating he intended to pay the full amount for the vehicle. However, the check failed to clear, and repeated attempts by the dealership to contact Pryor over the past week have been unsuccessful.

Further investigation revealed Pryor has an extensive history of financial and property crimes, including recent charges from Bossier City PD for Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Access Device Fraud, and Issuing Worthless Checks. In a similar scheme, Pryor allegedly defrauded two separate dealerships of vehicles before being apprehended by Bossier City authorities.

As a result of the SPD’s investigation, detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Phillip Pryor on one count of Theft of a Motor Vehicle over $25,000 and Issuing Worthless Checks over $25,000. We are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Pryor to prevent further fraudulent activities.
