Shreveport Police Respond to Shots Fired: Arrest Felon with Firearm

On May 12th, 2023, around 11:05 a.m. Shreveport Police Patrol officers were dispatched to a call of shots fired in the 600 block of Melrose Street. The arriving officers contacted Devyn Dotie (4-7-97) and discovered that he was armed with a firearm. It was later revealed that Dotie had reportedly fired the weapon prior to officers arriving.
Further investigation into the matter revealed that Dotie was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon for prior felony offenses.
Dotie was arrested for one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of illegal use of a weapon. This investigation is ongoing.
We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
