Shreveport Police Department Welcomes 14 New Recruits

Chief Wayne Smith and his command staff proudly welcomed 14 future Shreveport Police Officers as they began their journey through the Shreveport Police Regional Training Academy. The cadets, joined by five deputies from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, will undergo four months of intensive training to prepare for the demands and rewards of a career in law enforcement.

The Shreveport Police Regional Training Academy, the largest facility of its kind in North Louisiana, continues to serve as a cornerstone in shaping the next generation of public safety professionals. This training class represents courage, dedication, and a commitment to serving their communities.

“We thank these cadets for their bravery in stepping forward,” Chief Smith said. “They are about to face some of the toughest challenges of their lives, and we know they will rise to the occasion.”
