Shreveport Police Conduct Targeted Narcotics and Firearms Sweep

On March 5, 2026, the Shreveport Police Department’s Street Level Interdiction Unit (SLIU) executed a series of targeted operations aimed at curbing narcotics distribution and the prevalence of illegal firearms in the community. The initiative was launched in direct response to ongoing neighborhood complaints regarding illicit activity.

The proactive enforcement effort resulted in the successful seizure of illegal narcotics and weapons, leading to multiple arrests across the city.

Multiple Suspects and Charges

The following individuals were taken into custody during the operation:

• Dontrouis Barfield: Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of Schedule II Narcotics, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), and two outstanding warrants.

• Melvin Brown: Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics, Possession of Schedule V Narcotics, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

• Kiara Westerbrook: Illegal Carrying of a Weapon and multiple counts of Distribution of Narcotics.

• Jonathan Harris: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics, Distribution of Schedule II Narcotics, and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

• Laquilia Miles: Possession of Schedule II Narcotics and Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics.

• Marquis Schoats: Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics, Distribution of Schedule II Narcotics, and Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

• Leon Thomas: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

• Shamel Thompson: Distribution of Schedule I Narcotics, Distribution of Schedule II Narcotics, Distribution of Schedule III Narcotics, and multiple outstanding warrants.
