On March 5, 2026, the Shreveport Police Department’s Street Level Interdiction Unit (SLIU) executed a series of targeted operations aimed at curbing narcotics distribution and the prevalence of illegal firearms in the community. The initiative was launched in direct response to ongoing neighborhood complaints regarding illicit activity.

The proactive enforcement effort resulted in the successful seizure of illegal narcotics and weapons, leading to multiple arrests across the city.

Chief Wayne Smith praised the SLIU and supporting patrol officers for their diligence in executing these arrests. He emphasized that the department remains focused on proactive enforcement to curb violence and drug-related issues in the city.

"The proactive work of our officers continues to remove illegal firearms and dangerous narcotics from our streets," said Chief Smith. "Operations like these make our community safer and demonstrate our commitment to targeting those who continue to engage in criminal activity."
