Law enforcement officers from throughout the region have gathered at the Shreveport Police Academy to bid farewell to a four-legged officer.

Shreveport Police K-9 Mico was laid to rest at the K-9 cemetery on the academy's grounds.  The eight-year-old Belgian Malinois had served the Shreveport Police Department's Tactical K-9 Unit for the past five years.  He died last week after a brief illness.  During his years of service, Mico and his handler, Corporal Christopher Yarborough, were responsible for the apprehension and arrest of numerous felony suspects and the discovery of tens of thousands of dollars worth of illegal narcotics.
