A Shreveport police officer finds himself on the wrong end of the law after a weekend incident.

Shreveport Police Sergeant Roland Garner was arrested Saturday by officers of the Shreveport Police Department on one count of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).

Sgt. Garner was off duty and driving his personal vehicle when he was pulled over. The officers involved suspected him of being impaired. Following standard procedure, he was arrested and transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he has since bonded out.

As per department policy, Sgt. Garner has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal investigation. Sgt. Garner has been employed with the Shreveport Police Department since 2005.

SPD Issued the following statement:

This is an unfortunate incident that does not reflect the values or professionalism of the Shreveport Police Department. We remain committed to accountability and transparency in all matters involving our personnel.

No details about the location of the arrest has been released.
