Shreveport Police have a arrested a local man in connection with a shooting incident that happened in west Shreveport.

Here's information from the police department news release:

Just after 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2015, Shreveport Police Patrol officers were dispatched to the 4300 block of Illinois Avenue relative to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned Joshua Smith and Diquan McNeil, had been shot multiple times in the lower body while in front of an apartment at the Illinois Apartments. 

Preliminary information was received indicating the suspect, who was later identified as 36 year old Nicholas King of the 4300 block of Saint Louis Avenue, approached the victims and allegedly fired multiple times from a weapon, striking Smith and McNeil numerous times in the lower extremities. After the shooting King fled the scene in a white Chevrolet pick up truck. Authorities canvassed the area locating King in the 4300 block of Saint Louis Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident. Following his arrest, King was transported to Shreveport Police headquarters where he was interviewed by detectives.

Following subsequent interviews, King was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple battery and a second charge of illegal use of a weapon.
