Arrest Made in Rape Investigation

The Shreveport Police Department has arrested a registered sex offender following an investigation into the sexual assault of a minor.

On December 4, 2024, SPD Sex Crimes detectives were notified after a 16-year-old victim disclosed to her mother that she had been sexually assaulted. The suspect was identified as 60-year-old Black male Floyd Lee Cathron.

Detectives immediately scheduled a forensic interview for the victim at a local advocacy center. During the interview, the victim provided detailed information about the assault. A subsequent investigation revealed that Cathron is a current and active registered sex offender.

Based on the findings, a warrant for Second-Degree Rape was issued for Cathron’s arrest on December 4, 2024. The following day, on December 5, 2024, detectives successfully located and arrested Cathron.
