K9 Team Helps Nab Armed Suspect In Shreveport Foot Pursuit

Shreveport Police have arrested an armed felon following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase Tuesday in the early morning hours.

Just after midnight, SPD Patrol Officers tried to stop a vehicle on Pierremont Road near Line Avenue. The driver refused to stop and fled from officers before eventually bringing the vehicle to a stop and running from Police.

With the help of Shreveport Police K-9 officers, the suspect was quickly located and arrested. During the arrest, SPD Officers found a gun and narcotics from the suspect while searching him.

Detectives also determined the suspect, Ladarrell Jefferson, was involved in a shooting incident that occurred back in March on Illinois Avenue.

SPD also found that the suspect is legally can not possess a firearm due to prior felony convictions, including armed robbery, burglary of an inhabited dwelling, and possession of Schedule II narcotics.

The suspect has been charged with:

· Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

· Illegal Use of a Weapon

· Possession of Schedule II Narcotics

· Aggravated Flight from an Officer

· Resisting an Officer

Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.
