On March 21st, 2023, around 4:45 p.m. the Shreveport Police Street Level Interdiction Unit conducted a search warrant in the 1700 block of Clanton Street in reference to narcotics complaints in the area.

Agents searched a residence in the 1700 block of Clanton Street and discovered Jermel Lawrence (2-20-89) and black female Markayla Williams (12-15-90) were reportedly in possession of a large amount of Marijuana and a firearm.

 

The firearm and narcotics were seized by the narcotics agents. Lawrence was found to be a convicted felon from prior felony offenses.  Lawrence was arrested for one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, and one count of possession of a schedule one narcotic with intent to distribute.

 

Williams was arrested for one count of possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance and one count of possession of a schedule one narcotic with intent to distribute.  Williams also had five outstanding traffic warrants.

 

Williams’s photo is not releasable due to changes in Louisiana State Law.

We are required to advise that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
