It was a busy weekend for Shreveport police, who are investigating seven shooting incidents that occurred between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, some of them back-to-back.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, patrol officers got a call from University Health that an adult male and female arrived at the emergency room via private vehicle. The man had been shot in the head, and the woman in the abdomen. Information suggests the man drove himself and the woman to the hospital after being shot, possibly near the intersection of Dowdell and Clanton. Very limited details are available surrounding the shooting, but it is believed to have been drug-related. The victims are identified as 60-year-old James Davidson and 55-year-old Sandra Stewart of Shreveport. Their wounds were considered life-threatening. No suspects have been identified so far.

Just before 1 a.m. Sunday, patrol officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2600 block of Midway Avenue. Chelcia Hamilton told them she was driving, when her vehicle was struck twice by gunfire, causing it to lose power. Hamilton and an adult passenger were not wounded. Detectives believe a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Cadillac, occupied by several males is connected to the shooting. Evidence is still being collected and processed.

Just before 3 a.m. Sunday, 38-year-old Maurice Spearman and an acquaintance got into an argument in the 2100 block of MLK Drive, when the other man shot Spearman in the hand. Spearman refused transport to the hospital. Detectives are trying to determine who Spearman's acquaintance is.

Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, a woman was asleep at her home in the 2600 block of Lakehurst Avenue, when she was awakened by the sound of gunfire. Detectives found the home had been hit over a dozen times, but the woman suffered only a graze wound to the leg.

Just after 4:15 a.m. Sunday, patrol officers were called to Willis-Knighton North after a woman with gunshot wounds to both legs arrived at the hospital. She had apparently been driving down I-20 West near Greenwood Road, when someone in a silver or white vehicle pulled alongside her car and fired several shots. Her wounds weren't considered to be life-threatening.

Just after 6 a.m. Sunday, a home in the 3000 block of Morningside Drive was shot at for the second time in two weeks. Nobody inside was wounded, but the home and several cars outside it were damaged. Someone also opened fire on the home July 15. No suspects have been identified so far. Investigators are trying to determine why the home has been repeatedly targeted.

Just before 7 a.m. Sunday, a man was shot during what's believed to have been a lover's quarrel. The victim, 23-year-old Demara Burns, was at the apartment of a female friend in the 3100 block of Bert Kouns, when a former acquaintance of the woman showed up and shot Burns. Afterward, the suspect took off in a dark-colored vehicle. Police should soon have an arrest warrant for the suspect. His name will be released at that time. Burns continues to recover from a non-life-threatening wound.

UPDATE: Police have identified the suspect in this shooting as 23-year-old Anthony White. Detectives have an arrest warrant charging him with attempted second degree murder. Call Crime Stoppers if you know where he is.

All of these cases are being actively investigated, and police ask anyone who may have information that can help to call Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
