
Shreveport Police Arrest Two Men for Obscenity in a Car
Early this morning, officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded toa call from the Marshall Street area in reference to a suspicious vehicle.
When SPD showed up to the scene, Officers conducted a quick investigation that ultimately resulted in the arrest of Robert Cheatham and Quincy Thomas. Both men were charged with one count each of obscenity.
Under Louisiana law, the crime of obscenity includes the intentional:
Exposure of the genitals, pubic hair, anus, vulva, or female breast nipples in any public place or place open to public view, or in any prison or jail, when done with the intent of arousing sexual desire, appealing to prurient interest, or in a manner that is patently offensive.
Participation in or engagement in hard-core sexual conduct, including the production, presentation, performance, promotion, exhibition, advertisement, sponsorship, electronic communication, or display of such conduct, when it is determined that:
The average person applying contemporary community standards would find the conduct appeals to prurient interest, The conduct is presented in a patently offensive way, and The conduct, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.
Both subjects were taken into custody without incident.
