SHREVEPORT, LA - Another fire at an empty Shreveport apartment complex. This latest blaze happened at the Oak Meadows Apartments in the 1900 block of Centenary Boulevard just before 6pm Thursday night.

Shreveport firefighters showed up in force to fight the blaze after getting calls about smoke coming from one of the buildings. Crews were able to get to the fire on the first floor of one of the buildings. There was heavy smoke and flames coming from that one unit.  When all was said and done, more than 20 firefighters worked to put out the blaze. They were able to get in contained within about 10 minutes.

No one was injured in the blaze and no firefighters were hurt while putting the fire out.

The Oak Meadows complex is vacant and there are no utilities connected to any of the buildings. This makes the fire highly suspicious for investigators. In cases like this, it is often vagrants who get in the buildings and set fires. Sometime the fires are using for heat or cooking. We don't know if that is the case in this fire. But it is under investigation.

The Oak Meadows apartments have been a hot spot for fires for several months. There have been at least 8 fires at the complex over the past 6 months.

Residents are urged to report any vagrants that might be on this property. All suspicious activities should be reported to authorities immediately. Police say calling in a report could help decrease the likelihood of a fire or other emergency from happening at that location.
