Suspected Shreveport Murderer Turns Himself In to Police

On January 14, 2024, at 2:00 a.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting on a vacant lot in the 800 block of Wall Street. Arriving officers located 26-year-old Hortencia Demming suffering from at least one gunshot wound to her upper torso. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Violent Crimes investigators worked through the night and following day combing through evidence and interviewing witnesses and were able to develop Rictaveon Perry (3-11-2004) as the suspected shooter. Detectives believe that Demming and Perry were involved in an ongoing dispute that led to this violent act. No other information is available for release at this time.

On Mon January 15, 2024,  Rictaveon Perry was transported to the police station by family members after they learned via a social media post that he was wanted for murder.

Following an interview with detectives, Perry was transported to City Jail and booked on the 2^nd Degree Murder (NO BOND) warrant and an active fugitive warrant through CPSO for Possession of Marijuana.
