The Mudbugs will officially kick-off their home regular season this weekend, and they'll do so while celebrating last year's championship.

Last weekend, the Shreveport Mudbugs played at home for the first time this season. The games were exhibition matches against team USA's developmental team. It was a dominant performance by the Mudbugs, who were able to beat team USA in both games. Also, on Saturday afternoon, the Mudbugs played their alumni game, which featured many mudbugs legends from the past coming back to play in Shreveport once again.

Now, all eyes are on this weekend as the regular season officially begins.

just a few months ago, the Mudbugs won the NAHL National Championship in Blaine, MN. Following their big win, the team held a celebration event at George's Pond before the players said their final goodbye to Shreveport. Well, many of those players will return to George's Pond this weekend, as well as the players who won it all and stayed with the team for this season, as the team celebrates the championship in an awesome way.

Mudbugs fans are spoiled with banners, and have been since the teams arrival in 1997. Still, despite having more banners in the rafters than most teams, it's still a special feeling when a new one takes its place.

That banner drop will take place Friday night before puck-drop. Fans will want to make sure they arrive to George's Pond a little earlier than normal to take in the wonderful moment with the players and fellow fans.

The Mudbugs will play in Shreveport on both Friday and Saturday night, puck drops at 7:11 PM both nights.
