Shreveport Police Make Arrest in Michigan Street Shooting

Yesterday morning, Shreveport Police were called to Michigan Avenue to reports of an armed person.

An investigation by SPD revealed that the victim was running home after dropping a child off at school. After the drop-off, she encountered 33 year-old Jacobe Harris and a verbal fight broke out. As the fight escalated, Harris pulled a gun and pointed it at the victim. The victim tried running away, but Harris chased her.

Harris was thankfully unable to locate the victim, but he went to the victim's mother's house nearby. after the victim's mother denied him entry to the home, he fired several shots in to the lawn before leaving the scene.

SPD Detectives were able to locate Harris and he was arrested. The gun that Police believe Harris used in the shooting was recovered.

Harris has been charged with the following offenses:

· Felon in Possession of a Firearm

· Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

· Illegal Use of a Firearm

· Resisting an Officer

· Simple Escape

Harris has a criminal history that includes prior convictions for home invasion, domestic violence, and other felony offenses.
