
Shreveport-Bossier Memorial Day Weekend: Your Top 7 Can’t-Miss Events
SHREVEPORT, LA - We are closing in on Memorial Day and there are several big events happening in the Shreveport area.
We do want to remember what Memorial Day is all about. We take this time to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the U.S. military. You will find patriotic ceremonies to family-friendly festivals and live music.
1. Memorial Day Ceremony at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery
There will be a flag placing event at the cemetery on May 23 at 9am. On Monday, May 26 they will host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, scheduled for Monday, May 27 at 11a.m.. This will include a flag presentation, guest speakers, a moment of silence, and a 21-gun salute. This event draws veterans, families, and community members who come together to reflect and pay tribute. The Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery is located in Keithville.

2. Mudbug Madness Festival
If you love music and great food, you need to be at the Mudbug Madness Festival. It's being held May 23-25 at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. This 3 day event features live music on multiple stages, a crawfish eating contest, local vendors, and plenty of ice-cold beverages. It’s a great way to kick off summer while celebrating the amazing culture of Louisiana.
3. R&B on the Lawn
Catch some great soulful music and enjoy eats from a variety of food vendors. This R&B event is happening at Caddo Common Park on Saturday May 24 from 1-7PM

4. White Linen Soiree
The Krewe of Harambee hosts this special event on Sunday May 25 from 4-8pm. Features a wine tasting, great food and a cash bar.
5. North Louisiana Art Class
Monday, May 26, you might wanna check out this art class. It's being held at the Highland Art House at 1525 Stephens Avenue from 11am-noon. This is a free event and no art supplies are needed.
6. Bricks of Honor Ceremony
This event to honor the fallen is being held on Monday, May 26 at 2pm. It will be at the American Legion Post on South Lakeshore Drive.
The Naval Fleet Reserve will also be here for their Memorial Wreath Toss.
7. Red River Rumble F1 Powerboat Showdown
May 23-25 on the Red River in downtown Shreveport. Formula 1 Powerboat Racing returns to Shreveport-Bossier for the Red River Rumble F1 Powerboat Showdown.
About 50 powerboats will tear across the Red River in a race for big prizes.
