BREAKING: Shreveport Mayor Rushed to Hospital
UPDATE: We now have more information about the health of Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux. His spokeswoman Leigh Anne Evensky sent this statement to KEEL Tuesday evening:
Mayor Arceneaux has been admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and is receiving treatment as a precaution. He’s in good spirits, very alert, resting comfortably, and will be out soon! I will make a statement first thing in the morning and will update the public as he gets better!
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux is rushed to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The Mayor was attending the Shreveport City Council meeting when something happened.
KEEL News has learned the mayor stepped out of the meeting for a moment because he was coughing.
We have been told he "fell out" when he got to the lobby at Government Plaza trying to get back to the office. Fire department personnel were already on the scene. They immediately rushed to his assistance and called in an ambulance to take him to the hospital.
The folks at the Mayor's office say the Mayor did not collapse or "fall out", but there was a lot of attention on him at Government Plaza when he suffered this medical condition.
Mayor Arceneaux was rushed to Willis Knighton North where he is being evaluated. The Mayor has been admitted and is being treated.
