A local man is left recovering from minor wounds following an overnight shooting in Shreveport's Cherokee Park neighborhood.

Just before 10:00 p.m. on December 12th, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called out to the 800 block of Navajo Trail to reports that a man had been shot near a wooded area next to an apartment complex.  Officers say 20-year-old Jimmy White appeared to have suffering two gunshot wounds to the lower body.  He was transported to University Health Shreveport for what was described as non life-threatening wounds.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives and Crime Scene investigators arrived at the scene, launching an inquiry into the matter and collecting evidence.  Their evidence suggests White was shot during a physical altercation involving several males at a nearby home.  Authorities are gathering additional information in the case.  If you have information about the incident, you are urged to contact Shreveport-Caddo Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or submit a tip on the agency's website.
