Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator has announced a Shreveport man that had fled state during an investigation has been arrested. He will now return to Caddo Parish to face nearly 1,700 charges.

32-year-old Darren Dew of Shreveport has been charged with 1,694 of Child Pornography, and a single count of Animal Sexual Abuse. Dew was arrested in Ohio by US Marshals, and will be extradited to Caddo Parish.

According to a release by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, a forensic investigation into Dew's electronic devices turned up images and videos of a criminal nature. Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Cyber Crimes Unit Detective Thomas Lites discovered that Dew had downloaded, saved, and uploaded images and videos of criminal sexual conduct, involving children as young as 3-years-old.

During the investigation of Dew's electronics, investigators say they also uncovered evidence of a dog being sexually abused.

When the suspect found out about the investigation into his electronic devices, he fled the area. He made his way to the state of Ohio, where he was arrested on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022. Sheriff Prator's Office says that Dew will be brought to the Caddo Correctional Center once he is extradited back to Louisiana.
