SHREVEPORT, LA-   SPD Sex Crimes Detectives Arrest Man Accused of Rape

On September 26, 2024, at approximately 9:00 PM, a detective with the Shreveport Police Department’s Sex Crimes Unit was called to investigate a report involving a 14-year-old victim who stated she was sexually assaulted by a 33-year-old man.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest of Akeem Reed on one count of 2nd Degree Rape. Reed was apprehended on October 3, 2024.

If convicted, Reed faces up to 40 years in prison. Chief Wayne Smith commended the exceptional efforts of both patrol officers and detectives, stating, "This is another outstanding job by our team as we protect the most vulnerable members of our community."
