A Shreveport man has been jailed for dumping a dying woman off at the ER and leaving. He has been charged with homicide.

Cpl. Marcus Hines released this statement:

"Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives have now charged a local man in connection with the death of a woman in 2019.

 Back on December 23, 2019, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to Willis-Knighton Hospital’s south location in the 2500 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop relative to a deceased person.  As officers arrived at the scene, it was learned a male subject had dropped off an unidentified woman at the hospital’s emergency room and left the location.  The unidentified woman, later learned to be a 31 year old white female, was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

 Investigators from the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene and immediately began their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.  It was discovered the woman had possibly ingested illegal narcotics prior to her arrival at the hospital.  Since the launch of the initial investigation, authorities have worked to determine the identity of the man responsible for delivering the woman to the hospital.  Through continuous efforts, it was learned 27 year old Daniel Westphal was The male responsible for bringing the woman to the hospital.  Westphal, of the 2900 block of Salem Drive, was located by detectives on Tuesday afternoon.  Following subsequent interviews with detectives, Westphal was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of Second Degree Murder."
