SHREVEPORT, LA- Shreveport Police make an arrest in Sexual Assault of juvenile

The Shreveport Police Department has arrested 51-year-old James Washington in connection with a sexual assault reported on February 29th, 2024.

On February 29th, officers responded to the 1700 block of Buckner Street following a report of a sexual assault of a juvenile. The Shreveport Police Sex Crimes Unit immediately commenced an investigation into the matter.

During a thorough investigation detectives contacted James Washington was arrested and charged with one count of 1st Degree Rape. If convicted Washington could face up to life in prison. We are required to remind that all suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

We encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault or who has information regarding such incidents to come forward and report to law enforcement.
