Shreveport Man Arrested After Ramming Police Car
SHREVEPORT, LA- Man tries to injure officers during dramatic pursuit
The Shreveport Police Department has arrested 37-year-old Dalton Lewis on multiple serious charges following a police pursuit.
On June 3 at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a call regarding a hit-and-run incident near Fairfield Avenue and Kings Highway. The suspect's vehicle had reportedly struck the victim's vehicle multiple times before fleeing the scene.
A short time later, Shreveport police patrol officers located the suspect's vehicle at Kings Highway and Thornhill Avenue and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the suspect refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit. During the pursuit, the suspect continued his attempts to escape by ramming police vehicles multiple times.
Dalton Lewis has been arrested and faces the following charges:
- - One count of hit-and-run
- - One count of resisting with force/violence
- - One count of aggravated assault on a police officer
- - One count of aggravated assault on an officer with a vehicle
- - One count of aggravated property damage
- - One count of reckless operation of a motor vehicle
- - One count of flight in a motor vehicle
- - One count of threatening an official
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of these senseless acts. Chief Smith commends his officers for their restraint and dedication in bringing this violent criminal to
justice.
Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
