SHREVEPORT, LA-   Man Arrested After Fleeing from SPD

Shreveport Police have arrested 21 year-old DeAndre Washington for numerous offenses following a traffic stop that began at Jewella Avenue and Hollywood Avenue. Washington refused to stop, leading officers on a chase that ended with his arrest in the 3900 block of Liaison Drive.

Washington was found to be driving a stolen vehicle and committed a hit-and-run while attempting to flee from officers. He has been charged with one count of aggravated flight from a police officer, illegal possession of a stolen vehicle, and hit-and-run, as well as having outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.

Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident. However, SPD wants citizens to know that fleeing from law enforcement is a dangerous act. The United States Supreme Court goes on to say that “Flight from a law enforcement officer invites, even demands, pursuit. As that pursuit continues, the risk of an accident accumulates.”
