Shreveport Police Investigating City’s Latest Homicide

Earlier this week, the Shreveport Police Department responded to a call regarding an unconscious man lying in the road.

When SPD got to the scene, they found a man, later identified as Morris Edwards, unresponsive and not breathing in the middle of the street. Shreveport Fire Department were called to the scene and pronounced Edwards dead on the scene.

Shreveport Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit responded and were told that the victim had multiple gunshot wounds. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office responded, conducted an examination, and took possession of the victim’s remains.

"This incident marks Shreveport’s second homicide of 2026.

At this time, no suspect information is available. The investigation remains ongoing.
