In the early hours of January 15, 2025, K-9 Edy and his handler responded to a report of a vehicle linked to a shooting in Texas. Around 2:00 a.m., officers located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, leading officers on a pursuit through the city.

The chase ended in the area of West 71st Street and St. Vincent Avenue when the suspects stopped the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. K-9 Edy and his handler, alongside other officers, quickly sprang into action. With Edy’s assistance, multiple suspects were apprehended, and officers recovered four firearms from the vehicle.

All individuals involved were juveniles, and the Shreveport Police Department is working closely with Texas authorities as the investigation continues.

K-9 Edy’s successful efforts highlight the invaluable role of the SPD’s K-9 Unit in keeping our community safe. The friendly rivalry between K-9 Edy and K-9 Karo shows that these "top dogs" are always ready to serve and protect.
