SHREVEPORT, LA-  Man Arrested by Shreveport Police Canine Unit After Fleeing

On the evening of May 17, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Shreveport Police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Milam Street and Hearne Avenue after determining the vehicle was stolen. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 55-year-old Patrick Williams, fled the scene, initiating a pursuit.

The pursuit continued until Williams stopped the vehicle and fled into a wooded area off Maple Street. Shreveport Police Canine Unit, Canine Storm, was called to the scene to assist in the search for the suspect.

After a brief search, Storm successfully located Williams in the wooded area. Williams was arrested and charged with one count of illegal possession of stolen property, resisting an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, and obstruction of a state highway.

Williams was treated for minor injuries sustained during the incident. Shreveport Police commend the diligent work of both Storm and his handler in bringing this situation to a safe conclusion.

Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
