Shreveport Police Make Drug Arrest Thanks to K-9 Officer ‘Edy’
Early this morning around 2am, Shreveport Police made an effort to pull a car over on Kennedy Drive. The driver of the car later identified as Eric Gant didn't stop the car and led SPD on a high-speed chase.
The car eventually came to a stop near Shreveport Drive, and before Gant could run, K-9 Officer Edy was on him. The K-9 Officer was able to subdue Gant long enough for SPD human Officers to cuff him.
Gant had some minor injuries from the K-9 encounter and was treated for those wounds before being taken to jail. Gant was in possession of Schedule I and Schedule II drugs. In all the excitement, an SPD Officer was hurt but is expected to make a full recovery.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department commends the officers involved for their quick action and dedication to keeping our community safe. Special recognition goes to K-9 Edy for his continued service in assisting with apprehensions."
