Shreveport Police Arrests Teen for Illegally Carrying a Gun
Shreveport Police made an arrest following an early morning incident in the 3600 block of Beckham Drive.
Late December, in the early-morning hours, an SPD Patrol Officer saw a suspicious person and started an investigation. During the stop, Officers made contact with 19 year-old Lemale James, who was found to be in possession of a gun.
Further investigation showed the gun had the serial number removed, a serious violation of the law. James was arrested and charged with one count of illegal carrying of a weapon and one count of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Weapons like this are often used for violent criminal activity and pose a serious threat to public safety.
From SPD:
"The Shreveport Police Department will not tolerate individuals who carry illegal firearms and endanger our community.
Chief Smith commends the vigilance and quick action of the involved officer, whose awareness and proactive policing directly contributed to removing a dangerous weapon from the street."
