Shreveport Police Arrest Two for Illegal Firearm Use
Tuesday (11/5/24) morning, Shreveport Police Department officers took swift action after hearing gunshots in the vicinity of the 7000 block of Burlingame Boulevard. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 AM while officers were en route to another call. Upon investigating, officers were able to locate a gray Hyundai Elantra that had just pulled into a nearby driveway. Three subjects were found in the vehicle.
A search of the Elantra led officers to discover two semi-automatic 9mm handguns inside the vehicle, with one firearm, found on the driver’s floorboard, still warm from recent discharge. Officers detained the occupants, and the Violent Crime Abatement Team (VCAT) was called to assist with the investigation.
Following interviews, officers identified and charged two individuals. Decoryion Bennet and Isaih Perrow now face charges for Illegal Use of a Weapon. Additionally, Bennet faces an extra charge for Possession of Schedule I Narcotics.
The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to addressing gun violence and is actively working to reduce gun-related crimes in our community.
