The City of Shreveport has now reached 25 homicides for the year. The latest homicide in 2022 happened in the middle of the night on May 16th. Shreveport Police say a woman shot her husband inside their home on Regent Street. The wife has since been arrested.

The latest homicide was another shooting in the city, but the homicide reported before that was the first of the year that did not involve a firearm.

Earlier in May, the body of 61-year-old Gregory Wayne Myles was found in the bed of a pickup truck on Kentucky Avenue. The Caddo Parish Corner's Office announced the cause of death as blunt force trauma, and not a gunshot wound. Making this the first homicide of this year that was not a shooting.

With only one non-shooting homicide, that means 96% of the homicides this year in Shreveport have been shootings. With multiple coming in the form of drive-by shootings.
