Shreveport Man Arrested for Home Invasion Following Shooting
On Friday, Shreveport Police were called to Amherst Street to reports of a home invasion.
When Police got to the scene, the homeowner told them that two people forced their way in to the home by kicking the door down. The homeowner was inside the house with three small children at the time of the terrifying home invasion. Both men ran off before SPD could get there.
On Saturday at 4am SPD responded to a shooting on Monkhouse Drive. While Police were investigating the shooting, they were able to determine that the two people involved in the shooting were the ones also responsible for the Friday home-invasion.
The shooting happened when the two suspects were having an argument that turned physical. Nehemiah Tillman fired a shot when someone tried to stop the fight. Tillman and the other unnamed suspect, then started shooting at each other. Tillman was hit in the hand during the gunfire, and was able to be taken in to custody.
Tillman is facing the following charges:
· One count of Home Invasion
· One count of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
· One count of Illegal Use of a Firearm
From SPD:
"The second suspect has been identified, and charges are currently pending. The identity will be released once confirmed. The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be filed. Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department at (318) 673-7300 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers."
