Shreveport Police Arrest Two in Separate High-Speed Chases

The Shreveport Police Department has two behind bars following separate flights from officers.

On Saturday evening, SPD tried to make a traffic stop on I-49 near Kings Highway. Clayton Lemons, the driver, did not stop for Police and led them on a chase. Lemons was driving away from Police at high speed down Kings and eventually crashed his car near Dickinson. The car hit a power pole, which knocked out electricity in the area. The wrecked car then caught on fire. Lemons survived the crash, and is facing some heavy charges including, aggravated flight from an officer, DWI, and numerous traffic violations.

In another case, SPD were chasing a car last Thursday. The chase ended up getting to the point that it was too dangerous to continue, and Officers backed off and stopped the chase. After a follow-up investigation, Police were able to track down Roderick Duncan and arrest him on Easter Sunday.

SPD wants to remind the public how dangerous fleeing Police in a car is:

"Aggravated flight from an officer is a violent felony under Louisiana law. Those who engage in this reckless behavior put their own lives, the lives of officers, and innocent members of the public at extreme risk. In addition to facing severe legal consequences, they also endanger critical infrastructure and public safety.
