In the early hours of January 13, 2025, a vigilant patrol officer with the Shreveport Police Department removed a firearm from the streets and arrested a convicted felon.

At approximately 12:41 AM, while patrolling near the intersection of Kings Highway and Gilbert Drive, the officer saw a subject riding a bicycle eastbound without the required lights or lamps, a violation of traffic safety laws. The subject was later identified as Germaine Marquise Jack.

The officer, demonstrating exceptional awareness, noticed movements and body posture from Jack that indicated uneasiness. Further observation revealed what appeared to be the outline of a firearm beneath Jack’s black hoodie. Acting swiftly, the officer secured the firearm—a 9mm semi-automatic pistol—through the hoodie.

Upon further investigation, a criminal history search revealed that Jack is a convicted felon, making it unlawful for him to possess a firearm. Jack was charged accordingly, and the firearm was secured as evidence.

This incident highlights the dedication and attentiveness of the Shreveport Police Department’s patrol officers in ensuring the safety of our community. By taking a proactive approach, the officer successfully removed a dangerous weapon from our streets and apprehended an individual posing a potential threat.
